Friends World Committee for Consultation (FWCC) is holding an online conference on the topic of sustainability on February 22, 2020. All Friends are invited to register and attend!
There will be several “speakers,” who have made pre-recorded videos for the event. I have the honor of being one of those speakers, and other speakers include Crisanto de la Cruz from the Philippines, Lindsey Fielder Cook who works for QUNO, Esther Mombo of St. Paul’s University in Limuru, Kenya, and Anya Nanning Ramamurthy of the UK Student Climate Network. (See their bios here.)
The conference is for three hours, and there are three separate start times to accommodate different time zones and languages. (All will be in English, with simultaneous translation in French and Spanish in specified sessions.)
FWCC has been instrumental in helping Friends around the world work together to attend to our growing sense of calling as Friends to work on sustainability and care for the Earth. They made a really great graphic that shows a timeline of Friends work on this topic. I’m hopeful that this conference and other work that Friends are doing right now will be a catalyst for Friends to really begin doing the hard work of putting the Friends testimonies into practice to meet the challenges of our time.
