FWCC: Quakers and Earthcare

In March, I got to attend a Friends World Committee for Consultation Section of the Americas gathering outside of Kansas City, MO. I was invited to co-lead a workshop and interest group on Quakers and creation care with Shelley Tanenbaum, general secretary of Quaker Earthcare Witness (QEW), and Adrian Halverstadt, who teaches at Barclay College and is the director of Evangelical Friends Church – North America (we’re all pictured in the photo above). I enjoyed working with them both, and seeing that a concern for Earth stewardship spans the theological branches of Friends. The workshop and interest group we hosted were well attended and inspiring.

Shelley shared her reflections on the event here. (While you’re there, check out the rest of the QEW website! There’s a lot of great content there.)

While there, we also got to contribute to a video of Quaker leaders who are concerned about and actively working toward earthcare. More on this later, but I’ll share the link for now. Big props to Susanna Mattingly at the FWCC World Office for putting the video together!
